We may not be responsible for the world that created our minds, but we can take responsibility for the mind with which we create our world.

Counselling/psychotherapy:

Counselling/psychotherapy/therapy are all forms of talking therapies, usually practiced as 121 sessions. Differences will be dependent on what type of therapist (psychotherapist, counsellor, psychologist, psychiatrist) or what type of talking therapy offered (Psychodynamic, Psychoanalytic, Integrative, Humanistic, Person Centred, CBT, Transpersonal) there are many so please do get in touch with any questions!

Here at You matter we also offer:

  • Couples therapy: (or relationship counselling) is a talking therapy which allows you to identify negative behaviours which can be changed in order to improve your relationship. The aim of this type of therapy is to help you and your partner gain a better understanding of negative patterns within the relationship. Couples counselling can provide you with new tools, ideas and perspectives to help you to get your relationship back on track.

  • Trauma based therapy: A specific approach to psychotherapy, one that recognises and understands how trauma can impact mental, behavioural, emotional and physical wellbeing.  This approach provides skills and strategies to assist in better understanding the impacts of trauma, as well as tools to utilise inside and outside the sessions.

  • EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.  Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference.

  • CBT: Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type of talking therapy. It is a common treatment for a range of mental health problems. CBT teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems. It focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and actions.

Prices:

Prices vary dependent upon which type of therapy is needed and how many sessions, so please get in touch for more information.

“My husband and I came to therapy after it became apparent we could not resolve our relationship issues by ourselves, particularly our communications issues.  We were both at a point we were just existing in the relationship and didn’t know how we could improve the state of our relationship.

From our very first meeting with Tina, we felt at ease, surprisingly more so my husband. We find Tina so approachable and relatable. We both felt heard and for the first time in a long time we were hearing each other. Tina helped us to realise the impact our upbringing is having on our adult life and how this is playing out in our relationship. Above all Tina reminded us of what brought us together in the first place and therefore allowing us to see the good in each other again. We are so pleased to have had Tina as our therapist and can’t thank her enough for the great work she did untangling our web of issues. Our relationship still needs a great deal of work, however, Tina has given us the tools to start the work and therefore given us hope again.”
